Data Volume Collected Compared
Signal, when compared to WhatsApp, Messenger and Telegram, do not collect user data. The app only stores your phone number, and won’t make an attempt to link that to you.
According to the App Store, Messenger leads when categorized based on the volume of data collected. WhatsApp and Messenger collect users’ purchase history, financial information, location details, contacts, phone number, email address, and usage data. But Messenger also collects your photos, videos and audio data, search and browsing history and other sensitive information in excess.
On the other hand, Telegram keeps minimal information like contact details, contacts and user ID. For now, the Signal app remains the most private messaging app and doesn’t collect any user data. As a result, it remains the best WhatsApp alternative amidst data-sharing issues.
