Have you ever subscribed to pay for an app, and at some point, and for some reason, you want to stop payments for the app? In this discussion, I will be explaining how to unsubscribe from app payments on Google Play.
There are different reasons why should cancel an app subscription. The most common reasons are when you discover another app that freely offers the feature you’ve been paying for, or you discover that the app is not really good at solving its problem.
Another reason why people unsubscribe from app payments is probably that it offered free trials which have lapsed and they are not willing to pay to continue using the app. No matter what your excuse is, you are not committing a crime whatsoever.

There are two options available for you to choose from. You can either pause your subscription for an app or unsubscribe completely from payments. Whichever one you choose; you can still restart payments whenever you feel like it.
Let’s proceed with the steps to unsubscribe from app payments on Google Play
How to Pause App Payments on Google Play
- Launch the Google Play app on your device. Ensure that you’re using the app with the correct Google account in case you have more than one account on your device.
- Tap the menu tab (usually indicated with three vertical lines and located at the upper left corner).
- From there, find and tap subscriptions and select the subscription you would like to pause.
- Tap manage to view the pause payments option.
- Finally, select the option and select the date range for which you would like to pause subscriptions, if available.
How to Unsubscribe from App Payments
- Launch the Google Play app on your device.
- Tap the menu tab.
- Find and tap subscriptions and select the subscription you would like to stop.
- Finally, tap the unsubscribe option. You may choose to state a reason for stopping subscription to the app or otherwise.

Note:
If the payments you made for the app is yet to expire, pausing or cancelling your subscription won’t stop you from enjoying the premium benefits till your last payment expire. However, when it finally expires, it won’t renew automatically.
How to Resume App Payments
If you had paused or unsubscribed from app payments on Google play but finally give it a second thought, you can follow these steps to put everything in place again.
- Launch the Google Play app on your device.
- Tap the menu tab.
- Find and tap subscriptions and you will see a list of recently stopped or paused payments.
- Find and select the manage option, then renew.
