One of the ways to keep your account secured is by signing out of all active sessions whenever you are away. In this post, we have explained how to log out of your WhatsApp account.
Connecting with family, friends and everyone you know on WhatsApp is easy. With many fantastic app features, it has become one of the most necessary and relevant apps in this age.
While exchanging chats, you can also send friends images, videos, documents, and voice recordings. Group chat is another feature you need to try out, especially if you have a good number of active members that are also ready to have fun.
If you have not been added to a group, you may consider adding one for you, friends and family. But note that a group can only take up to 250 participants. When you reach this number in your group, you will have to remove people to add new ones.
Sometimes, one could get used to all the fun and get addicted to checking your device anytime you hear a notification from the app. Hence, the need to take a step backwards and log out of the app.
Unfortunately, there is no in-built function for logging out of WhatsApp on mobile. However, uninstalling or deleting the app data also works. Although, you should ensure you back up your chat to prevent losing it.
How to Log out of WhatsApp
As explained earlier, there is no log-out feature on the WhatsApp mobile application. But there are other ways to go about it. This procedure differs on both Android and iPhone devices.
Sign Out on iPhone
To log out of your account on your iPhone, launch the app and go to Settings. Under settings, select “Chats” then “Chat Backup”. Proceed by tapping “Back Up Now” to initiate a backup process. This will ensure that no chats are lost.
Before you can back up on an iPhone, you must have linked your device to your iCloud account. After the backup process has been completed, you need to close the app and continue to press down on the app icon on your screen to see the delete option.
On some versions of iOS, you only need to tap the “X” icon from the right corner of the app, while on others, you must select the “Delete App” option from the popup on your screen.
Sign out on an Android device
You can log out of WhatsApp on Android by deleting the app data. But before you proceed, you must ensure you perform a backup for your chats.
To do this, go to WhatsApp settings, then Chats. Proceed to Chat Backup, then tap Backup. A backup process is initiated, and you must wait until it completes.
Afterwards, go to your Settings app and select App management. Locate and open WhatsApp, then find the “Storage” option.
Finally, select “Clear Data” and tap “Delete” to confirm your selection.
Sign out on WhatsApp web
Visit your WhatsApp Web account and click the Menu icon to see the Log out option. This will log you out on your PC.
You can also initiate this from your phone. Go to Linked Devices under WhatsApp settings and select a device to see the log-out option. Select Log out for the account, and it is done.
Conclusion
While signing out of WhatsApp mobile could be a recommended approach to keep your account safe, it is not the best if you receive many chats on the platform. But if you must, also make sure you back up your chats.
If you change your mind, you must log in to use WhatsApp again.
