Are you looking to make changes to a video on YouTube? In this post, we have discussed how to edit YouTube videos.
As a video content creator, editing your work becomes one of the crucial things you need. Interestingly, you do not need to subscribe to costly software before achieving your goals.
YouTube has its own video editor, which can be accessed from the platform. The editor is regarded as a YouTube studio, with various video editing tools to ensure your video comes out great.
Below, we have explained how to edit your YouTube videos to satisfaction.
How to Edit Videos on YouTube
You can edit YouTube videos from the editor called YouTube Studio. Using the tool doesn’t require any underlying knowledge and makes trimming your clips easier.
To edit with YouTube Studio, kindly follow the steps below.
Visit the YouTube Studio website
Go to https://studio.youtube.com/ and sign in with the Google account associated with YouTube. If login is successful, you will be taken to the YouTube Studio home screen.
Upload a video
Before you can edit, you need to upload the video. Upload your video to the video upload screen and enter the title and description.
Set the visibility screen to either private, unlisted, or public, based on your choice. You can also schedule your YouTube videos to go public on a specific date.
Select a video
While on the home screen, locate and click “Content” on the left sidebar. Go to “Uploads” and select the video you want to edit. Videos are shown by their thumbnails.
The YouTube studio supports videos in different formats like 3GPP, AVI, FLV, and more. However, creators are implored to consider the MPEG4 or MP4 formats for their video upload to retain the best quality.
Use the Editor
To begin editing, click on Editor from the left sidebar, and you can start trimming your video. Choose “Trim” next to the video timer to trim a particular part of your video.
Also, drag the blue box on the side of your video timeline to remove the parts you don’t want to be added to the video.
You can also add an end screen to your video. The end screen determines what appears when the video play has ended. This could be an option to watch other videos, check your playlist or subscribe to your channel.
To do this, click on the end screen icon below your timeline panel, upload an end screen template, or choose from available options.
Lastly, remember to preview your video’s final copy before saving it. To reflect changes, click on “Save” from the top right corner of your screen.
Conclusion
This post gives an insight into how YouTube Studio is used. There are other editing options you should try on the editor. However, please do not overdo it.
Too much editing can cause a distraction on the side viewers. I advise keeping it simple to avoid a negative effect on the video.
After editing, you can proceed to YouTube and post it. Once you post the first video, ensure you share the link with friends and family and across your social media channels.
