How to Change Chat Background or Theme on Messenger

Just like WhatsApp, Messenger also supports changing the background in chat. Here, we have explained how to change chat theme on Messenger.

The feature which allows you to change chat backgrounds is available on the updated Messenger app. It allows users to chat their chat background using a theme of choice.

You can customize your chat background with colourful themes to choose from. These include Lofi, Sky, Lunar New Year, and many other themes.

How to change chat theme on Messenger

1. Launch the Messenger app on your device and log in using your Facebook account login details.
2. Open a new chat or select a previously opened chat to change the background.

   

3. Next, tap the info icon (a round icon with letter i written on it). From the top right of your screen go to the person’s profile.

   

4. On their profile, tap on Theme. You will see about 19 themes that you can choose from. There are also about 21 colour platelets to beautify your chats. Simply choose a theme or colour to apply.

   

   

Kindly note that a message indicating the theme change will be sent to the chat and the person you are chatting with will be able to see it too. Also, other individual chats will use the default theme.

To change your background theme for other chats, you need to set it up individually.

Changing your theme on Messenger is easy although not a commonly used feature among many Facebook Messenger users. Presently, themes available include Olivia Rodrigo, World Oceans Day, Pride, and F9.
